Gravity Raincoat
(1990-1991 & 2006-present)

From rainy day experiments in a barn, Gravity Raincoat evolved into an experimental road trip of rock, blues, and psychedelia. Although in the early 90s, they played many a live show, it's their EPs and single full length album that are really what this band is all about.
Gravity Raincoat was first formed on January 2, 1990. Shannon Murdock (Drums) and Tom McKinney (Bass) joined Grady Truchelut (Guitar/Vocals). Ty Nugyen (Guitar) and Jay Anderson (Vocals) were added later to round out the band.
Gravity Raincoat originally produced only two recordings: IT IS EASIER TO WALK...(AN E.P.), and PSYCHE which was full length. Both of these were recorded in the "Jam Shack" using a Fostex 4-track recorder. The band sold several hundred copies of each album.
The band, hampered by their ages (the oldest member was 19 at the time), generally played at parties mixing their original material with cover songs. The band played several live shows in established venues, most notably opening for Biff Bobney and the Biffettes.
The members of Gravity Raincoat eventually drifted apart, and played in other bands including the Mayhaw Prophets, the Phonetics, the Beef Masters, El Kabong, and Danger Room. Although the band has not played together in 16 years, Gravity Raincoat decided to reform and begin recording again.
The original trio of Shannon Murdock, Tom McKinney, and Grady Truchelut recorded Space Thumb, their first recording in 16 years. Space Thumb was released in September 2007 and, although CDs are sold out, is still available on iTunes.
Gravity Raincoat has remained dormant again since Space Thumb but have talked about recording again on occasion.
