Many people in East Texas may remember the Mayhaw Prophets as the quintessenital grunge/hard rock band from the early 90s. Known for hard hitting rock as well as dynamic psychedelic swirl, the group only recorded 1 "studio" album during their time together. The aptly titled, "The Actual Album" shows both sides of the band with some tracks being recorded live in the band's rehearsal space and others at a friend's farmhouse in Salem, TX.

The group briefly reunited in 2001 to play the 2nd annual Ten Acre Jam. See the link to select video footage of this performance below. Only 4 of the 8 or 9 songs they performed were recorded and only 3 were shot well enough to present.

There are too live recordings of the Mayhaw Prophets from 1995 and 1996. These have been combined with the best from each recording into "The Live Album". "The Live Album" was culled from a performance at Nacapalooza in 1996 and and earlier one at Bullwinkle's in 1995. Both are soundboard recordings and are of reasonably good quality but are by no means great since the source in both cases was cassette. These recordings were re-mastered in 2004 and some tracks from "The Live Album" and "The Actual Album" also appear as bonus material on the limited edition DVD of the reunion show.
